Lol… the kid who has never done this is now going to give all of us a lecture. Next time you’re about to say something, write it down, recite it in front of a mirror, and, here’s the important step, DON’T SAY IT. Learn to STFU next time you have the urge to embarrass yourself.
I'm at The Engineers Club (11 West Mount Vernon Place, Cathedral, Baltimore).
A U Lock is a good start, but isn't sufficient to keep your ride from being stolen. Best thing to do is use the U-Lock to secure the frame and rear wheel to the bike rack, post or other sturdy object. Then use a cable lock threaded through both wheels and the frame to secure the bike to the same sturdy object.
Thieves want to spend the least time possible stealing a bike. They do not want to spend the time to cut two locks to get your bike. With luck they'll go for an easier target.
Be sure to take easily removable items off your bike, as well. For example, don't leave a cycle computer on the handlebars. Also, you should replace your quick release seat post clamp with a regular bolt clamp.
Hope this helps.
Just screw in the adjuster on your brake lever. If there is no more adjustment then loosen the cable on the brakes themselves. (They should still be very close to the wheel when you are done)
RT good article…

Are you speaking from experience? Right now my car has studded winter tyres. Sure the tarmac damages them, but I prefer to have that extra edge on wet ice slick.
