I use a liquid dish soap, such as Dawn. It is a great degreaser. Rub it into the stain 20 minutes before you wash it. As others have mentioned, drying it can set the stain, so hang dry or use a no heat dry setting so you can make sure the stain is out.

Woof, that's a tough one… first of all, try to drive into New York City at off-peak non-rush-hour times of day, because, with a trailer, you'll need lots of room, and at off-peak hours, or even after midnight, there's a LOT less traffic on the streets.
That having been said, finding parking for the van AND the trailer together will be tough. The link below is to a guy who advertises parking and vehicle storage by the month, but, maybe if you contact him you can work out something for a few days, or, what the heck, rent for a month and just don't use all of it.
Good luck, and, the 2nd link is to the "Parking & Storage" page on the NYC CraigsList, so maybe contact a few folks there and see what you can arrange?…
Have it weighed and get a weight slip. Go to the tag office and get it registered as a home built.. Suggestion, If sides and top are to be added. Have it weighed beforehand.
Check on the local Craig's list for a used one sometimes you can get a used Chariot for about the same price as a new Instep.

If you can't find one used go to Wal-Mart. The Schwinn unit they sell is folding, has bearings in the removable wheels, and looks just like the others from 20 feet away.
I have one and my grandsons love riding in it.

How about that it as a couple of strap attachments similar to a water bottle etc but the bolt heads are located inside the box. So if anyone wants to remove the alarm from the bike they have to take the cover off that will no doubt activate the alarm..
Or.. could it have a chain running through it thats part of a normal chain lock.
