My answer for your question would be, in a nutshell:
"Work smarter and not harder (or longer)".
This is not an insult, as I do the same. Instead of just waiting to see improvements, you should do research for proper lifting techniques/programs and nutrition – to make sure you are maximizing your potential. Keep learning. I consider myself an experienced weightlifter (for over 10 years) yet I still do research to this day.
Even if you are doing everything "right", results will vary person to person by quite a bit. Genetics play a very big role in muscle development – actually, the biggest role.
Keep learning and keep working at it – you should pack on some pounds in no time!
For gaining size – my very basic advice would be to focus on 1 or 2 muscle groups a day. Train them vigorously by doing 8-12 reps (to "failure") per set and 3-4 sets per exercise. I would do anywhere from 3-5 exercises for each muscle group, depending on your fitness/experience level. For your diet, I would consume 4-6 meals per day – with plenty of protein, veggies, and low to medium glycemic carbs such as brown rice, brown bread, oatmeal, yams, and grains. Calorie content should be around 30% from protein, 50% from carbs, and 20% from fats (unsaturated). Keep in mind protein and carbs have 4 calories per gram and fat has 9 calories per gram.
